WHO WE ARE

Non-Traditional Cantonese Classes for Children

Our Mission

CantoBrossard was created with the single aim of helping children in our community to learn the Cantonese language. Cantonese learners have access to fewer resources than more widely spoken languages, and even much less available for 2nd and 3rd generation Chinese in Canada. Through this program, we want our next generation to have a better access to the Cantonese learning. Rather than having teacher-led class where children are sitting in a table and copying Chinese characters, we want group lessons to be fun as we strongly believe in the power of play to build children’s confidence and proficiency in a language.

Our Programs

We believe children learn best in a playful environment. Our program is to provide a non-traditional and enjoyable Cantonese learning experience so children can learn Cantonese and the Chinese culture in a fun and exciting way. Discover the three programs we have that fits every family needs.

Our Class & Activities

Every class consists of a small group of 10-15 children. Because each class is small, it allows every child to have more interaction with the teacher, who can easily tailor the class to the learner's level. We use playful teaching methods which engage children to participate in class. We believe when classes respond to a child’s interest, the learning comes naturally.

Themes

Each week's teaching is based on different themes on which children will learn to apply them to their daily life.

Repeat, Repeat and Repeat!

Because our classes consist of a small group of students, everyone gets a chance to practice and to perfect their pronunciation with the teacher.

Games

Through games and interactive activities, students enhance their vocabularies and conversational skills.

Writing

Student learns to write Chinese words by tracing outlined characters in the correct stroke orders. Younger children are encouraged to do pre-writing activities, such as coloring and cutting with scissors.
